Baltimore is the largest city and cultural center in the state of Maryland. Baltimore's Inner Harbor was once the second leading port of entry for immigrants to the United States and a major manufacturing center. Baltimore Harbor is home to Harborplace, a revitalized area drawing thousands of visitors each year. Today’s Baltimore is a city rich in American history and culture.
Annapolis, named to honor Queen Anne of England; Annapolis literally translates to “Anne’s City.” This entire early town is a designated National Historic Landmark area. For a short period, between November, 1783 and August, 1784, Annapolis served as the Capital of the United States.
