Day 1 - Anchorage

Welcome to the 49th state! Arrive into Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city and home to half all the state’s residents. Transfer to your hotel in downtown. Overnight Anchorage

 

Day 2 - Anchorage - Valdez

This morning, board your motorcoach for today’s grand adventure to Valdez. Drive through the Matanuska Susitna Valley, where world-record, monster-size vegetables grow in the 24-hour daylight of the summer months. Stop by Worthington Glacier for a look at this gigantic piece of ice. This evening arrive in Valdez, nestled between the waterfront and mountains, “Alaska’s Little Switzerland.” Valdez is also the terminus of the Alaska Pipeline which starts 800 miles away to the north in Prudhoe Bay. Day 3 - Valdez

Explore this port community on your own this morning, with included entrance to the Valdez Museum. Then it’s on board a sightseeing boat for a glacier-and-wildlife adventure. You’ll travel through majestic Prince William Sound, explore the 3-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier, and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open for seals, sea lions, otters, whales, and puffins throughout this half-day exploration cruise. Overnight Valdez

 

Day 4 - Valdez - Fairbanks

Today you journey north through magnificent scenery to the largest city in the interior, Fairbanks—better known to Alaskans as the “Golden Heart City.” On the way the route takes you through Wrangell St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the U.S. and also past the Trans-Alaska Pipeline where we’ll stop for a photo opportunity. Day 5 - Fairbanks

Learn how the Gold Rush affected Alaska’s interior on a sightseeing tour including a visit to the Fairbanks Museum. There is time for shopping, walking or dining on your own in the downtown area. Then, experience the thrill of river travel as you cruise the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler. Travel back to the late 1800s, when traditional riverboats plied the waterways of Alaska’s interior. This evening, partake in an authentic salmon bake. Overnight Fairbanks

 

Day 6 - Fairbanks – Denali National Park

America’s Largest Natural Wonder - Drive south to Denali National Park. Enjoy an afternoon of exploring this pristine area at your leisure by participating in a complimentary Park Service activity or an optional tour. There are many to choose from, including mild or wild river rafting, flightseeing to Mt. McKinley, a jet boat safari on the Nenana River, or a visit to the award-winning dog kennels of Iditarod champion, Jeff King. Tonight, partake in Denali Dinner Theater, a night of fun, frivolity and food. Get a taste of old-time Alaska performed in an authentic, log-paneled roadhouse as the unforgettable cast of characters recalls the adventure in early 1900s. Overnight Denali

 

Day 7 - Denali

Today, travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. Ever since it was established as a national park to conserve wildlife in 1917, this place has earned renown for devotion to science, learning, and preservation of its natural and cultural heritage. This 6- to 8-hour narrated journey provides insight into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region. Overnight Denali

 

Day 8 - Denali – Alaska Railroad - Anchorage

Today take the Alaska Railroad from Denali back to Anchorage, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife on this scenic journey. Upon arrival in Anchorage transfer from the train depot for a brief city tour of while you learn the history of this beautiful city on the shores of the Cook Inlet. You’ll visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place that celebrates, perpetuates and shares the history of Alaska Native cultures. Tonight, feast on an Alaskan-style meal and share tales from the road with your traveling companions. Overnight Anchorage

 

Day 9 Anchorage – Airport - Home

Transfer to Anchorage Airport for your departure flight.
